What you enter stays in your browser

Pay, deductions, filing status, dependents, and other details you enter are used only by code running in your browser to calculate results. We don't send them to our server and we don't have accounts.

• Saved settings: your last inputs and chart choice are saved in your browser's local storage so they're still there next visit. They never leave your device. The Clear button deletes them.
• Share links: Copy share link puts your inputs in the part of the web address after the #. Browsers don't send that part to web servers, but anyone you give the link to can see the inputs in it. The calculator removes it from the address bar after loading.

State detection

To preselect your state, the calculator asks ipapi.co for the approximate location of your IP address. That request goes from your browser to ipapi.co, which sees your IP address. If it fails, the calculator guesses from your device's time zone instead, which doesn't leave your browser. You can always choose a different state.

Advertising and cookies

This site may show ads served by Google AdSense. Google and its partners use cookies and similar technologies to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites, and to measure ad performance. Ad code runs in the same page as the calculator.

• Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services.
• Turn off personalized ads in Google's My Ad Center, or opt out of third-party vendors' personalized ads at aboutads.info.
• Visitors in the European Economic Area, the UK, and Switzerland are asked for consent before personalized ads are shown. Visitors in US states with privacy laws can opt out of the sale or sharing of their data through the notice shown on the site.

Hosting

Like any website, our hosting provider receives standard request information such as IP address, browser type, and pages requested, and may keep it in server logs.
